You know that glass of wine you reward yourself with when you cross that “bedtime routine” finish line each night? That first celebratory sip that brings all sorts of feel good emotions to your ever so depleted and exhausted body… yah! That for you, is a bath for your baby. Now don’t go beating yourself up about it, there is no need to add to your mom guilt and feel bad about depriving your child of their wine each night, just start the routine now.
>> In the case that my BABY LIQUOR THEORY didn’t convince you (hard to believe), I came prepared, here are 3 good reasons why you should be bathing your baby each night before bed;
- CURES CRANKINESS (and sets a calm tone for the night)
Most babies love water, from bath time to swim time I’ve found it to be the cure for crankiness in our home. Bathing your baby before bed also sets a very calm tone for the evening and can provide an easy transition into bed; less tears for everyone. - MORE SLEEP (by sticking to a routine, they know it’s nighttime not nap time)
Start the night off with a warm bath, gentle bubbles, and a rich moisturizing lotion before slipping them into their pajamas. This little routine has helped us differentiate between nap time, a shorter sleep, and night time, a longer sleep. Who knew adding a bath for baby could provide more sanity for the whole family, right? - CLOSER CONNECTION (perfect parent and baby bonding moment)
The day can be busy, hectic and wild, but not always time for a true connection with your baby. I personally feel this is the perfect time to bond with your baby than over a warm bubble bath. By bathing your baby before bed each night you’re giving them a great start to hopefully a long restful night’s sleep including a special moment each day to build a loving connection.
Thanks to Dove, we’ve been bathing Stella Grace in their new line, Baby Dove. They recently launched the line and include a Baby Bar (in rich moisture; milder and more replenishing than ordinary baby soap), Tip-to-Toe Wash (in rich moisture and sensitive moisture; helps retain your baby’s skin moisture), Lotion (in rich moisture and sensitive moisture, gently moisturizes skin for 24 hours), and Shampoo (in rich moisture, helps keep baby’s hair and scalp moisturized).

Now we’re no stranger to Dove products, it’s actually all we ever used when Sofia was born due to her SUPER SENSITIVE SKIN, it was the only thing she didn’t react to in all over hives (I guess skin sensitivity can be hereditary). Fast forward to present day and although we needed no convincing that Dove was the best option for Stella, I won’t lie, we ventured out and tried a few different brands but quickly came running back. Let’s just say on one occasion her scalp was so red it could pass for a hat. Needless to say we don’t go on skin care adventures for our girls anymore, with just stick with what works for us and that’s Dove.
Available at Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaws, Zehrs, Fortinos and Atlantic Superstore or for convenient pick up here
