Summer is nearly over and our minds (including our exhausted bodies) are excited for the school year ahead.
GRADE ONE is a pretty big deal over here; Sofia has mentally convinced herself she is now in a real grade. Unlike the 2 years of pre-school and 1 year of kindergarten, Grade One is different, IT’S A NUMBER which means it’s the real deal now, she’s in SCHOOL! Oh how I love 6-year-old reasoning!

Similar to what we did last year, we partnered with Walmart on the Back-to-School Apparel Solutions program, and headed straight to where we knew the deals were and our money could be stretched; WALMART! Sofia was given a $100 BUDGET and she was expected to get everything she needed for her first day back-to-school. From her clothing, shoes, accessories, a backpack, lunch kit and all the supplies she would need. LUCKY FOR HER, I purchase our schools pre-packed school supply boxes at the end of each year, and she would not need to dedicate any of her budget to this. She only needed to purchase her attire and backpack, so you can imagine just how WILD she went in the girls’ clothing section (sorry to those who heard the school girl squeal when I told her she could spend it all on clothing).
At the end of the day we walked out extremely proud (and exhausted), she managed to get 6 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, a sweater, 2 pairs of shoes, a backpack and a digital watch… all for just under $100. Truly this kids shopping skills are on point! I mean those skills don’t come outta’ no where; the apple doesn’t fall far friends and I couldn’t be more proud.

I could not believe the new wardrobe Sofia managed to walk off with considering her $100 BUDGET. While she cannot wait for the school year to start, I can safely say that we’re physically, fashionably and emotionally ready for back-to-school. What’s also fantastic is the George items we bought all come with a quality guarantee. For example, if the shirt wears out before Sofia grows out of it; we can return it to Walmart and replace it with a new shirt of the same size!
Let’s do this kid!
You didn’t think we would only show you one outfit did you? CURIOUS to see what else she got with her $100 Budget? Check out this little video we made;
