FEATURE: Sofia’s 5th Birthday (Puppy Adoption)

I did it! I did it! I tackled and successfully saw out Sofia’s Puppy Adoption Birthday Party exactly how she had wanted while 36 weeks pregnant and all my mama instincts wanted to do was nest.  Sofia has asked for 2-things this Birthday, a Puppy Adoption Party and an Outdoor Movie Night. I decided to do what I always do and bite off more than I can chew, combined the two and kept my fingers crossed I wouldn’t get in too much trouble from the parents I was asking to keep their children up to 10:30pm. We celebrated Sofia’s Birthday early this year, more than 2 weeks early ensuring that no party […]

FEATURE: Big Sister Bag

Whenever I think about Sofia first meeting her sister I get all sappy. These days especially, I can cry in a split-second when I think of the first times she sets eyes on her baby sister and all the emotions come flowing. It’s this very moment that had me think about just how important it is that it be documented, and not just from MY view.  I got the idea of a Big Sister Bag from another mama-blogger, Kelly from Gav + Ro, she put together the sweetest little backpack filled with fun items her son would be able to use (and snack on) at the hospital […]

DIY: Project Playhouse (yard prep & painting)

These past 3 weeks have been so busy! Sammy has been working like crazy at his 9-to-5 (with additional overtime shifts thanks to the hot weather) to come home and literally drop his lunch kit in the kitchen and head back outside to work on the yard and get this playhouse painted.  He’s made quite the to-do-list for himself when he decided that he wanted to first level out the yard before the playhouse was built. He wanted the ideal canvas for this work-of-art and that meant a backyard with a level playing field. Sammy ordered in a truck of dirt and wheel-barrowed it from the front yard to the […]

DIY: Patio String Lights

This post has been meaning to go live for quite sometime now, however STUFF, like growing a baby in this little belly of mine has taken priority. So first and foremost sorry for the delay, I hope you haven’t been holding your breathe waiting on doing you own patio renovation for this very post. For if you have, my goodness am I ever sorry! In this picture heavy, and by heavy I mean ELEPHANT-SIZED picture heavy post I hope to give you a good understanding of how we went from a little dream to a big reality. We really spent very little money, most of what we gave was […]

DIY: Project Playhouse (wood delivery & paint choices)

The truck pulled up, the driver confirmed our delivery and the crane made it real! The delivery of our newest project has happened, last week Sunbury Cedar dropped off bundles of delicious smelling pre-cut cedar for our new 6×8′ elevated Playhouse. Poor guy has only had a few weekends off between his last project (our patio overhaul) and now he’s back to late nights working in the garage and weekends that are the furthest thing from relaxing. As much as he loves the idea of putting his feet up, I swear he can’t, physically do it. The moment this guy has free time he is thinking up new projects […]

FEATURE: Patio Miracle(-Gro) Makeover

I think we can all agree that a well-done before and after motivates us, has us dreaming about our own spaces, makes us feel all the feelings! No?  I mean seeing a space go from lackluster to hosting perfection in not only a short time frame but on a budget, those are my kinda makeovers; an affordable quick overhaul which we’ve been calling a Miracle(-Gro) Makeover. It’s taken us about 4 weeks and just over $500 to complete, considering the size of our space and the blank canvas we had, it needed a lot of love, but had huge potential. Think dreamy lighting, romantic foliage and flowers that perfume the air as […]

Feature: Mole Hill Miracle(-Gro) +GIVEAWAY

Mole hills are a frequent occurrence in this little neighborhood of ours, and over the course of the 7 years we’ve called this house our home, we’ve found some super creative ways to evict these guys from our yard (in the nicest way possible). The most successful route has been lawn sensors (think noisy outdoor solar light) which make a low beeping noise every 60 seconds. They send a signal between the two posts located at either side of your lawn and with their underground signals keep the moles from looking to your yard as great real estate. It worked for a good 3 years until they […]

{nearly} WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

We all know how good I am at keeping it short, if you’ve ever sat down to one of my stories you’ll know. Let’s just say that we will keep things “shorter” than usual with today’s Wordless Wednesday. A few weeks back, Sofia and I had the opportunity to attend (and dine) at The Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. during one of their Mom & Tot DIY Herbal Salves classes with EarthBites. We learnt a lot, I mean a TON, thank goodness for the teacher, Aboriginal Herbalist Lori Snyder who took the time to write everything out for us to take home in note form. We walked out […]

DIY: Front Door Fairy Garden

We FINALLY tackled a project we’ve been wanting to do now for 365 days, quite possibly more, it’s just you loose count after a year, which is probably best. Since Fairy Gardens became a thing we’ve wanted to make one for our home, but it wasn’t until last Friday that our desire and determination saw eye-to-eye and we set our entire day to the making of our first Fairy Garden as a family.  Sofia and I took the morning to pop out bright an early to Garden Works for the plants that we would want in our little magical garden (you may have been following along here). We had […]

FAMILY: Crafts, an excuse for making forever friendships

As each month passes we get another adorable shot of our little people all together! What’s really fun about seeing these group shots is all these kids come from men who grew up together, some since kindergarten. Between us 5 wives, which we all met through our husbands, Ashley, Angela, Jenieve, Maria and myself, we’ve got 8 kids and 2 on the way. The ratio, as you can see is 2 girls to 6 boys but you would never know it if you were to be a fly on the wall during one of our monthly crafter’noons. They play together so well with no sides, this past week […]
