Incredible Christmas Light Display {VLOG}

We may have JUST made it before the lights flipped on for the first time… But without all the added anxiety and stress it wouldn’t be the same. YOU GUYS! Is it just me or are you always rushing to things, like I mean ALWAYS?! It was no different checking out the Lights at Lafarge Lake for their BIG official lighting event. We rushed to get there. Rushed to find parking. Rushed to pay for parking. Rushed to connect with our family meeting us there. and then we sat. We waited. and waited some more. and then a little more.  BAM the lights flew on and it […]

Annual Christmas Party {Wordless Wednesday}

Catering – Taco Del Mar (Port Coquitlam) Plates, Napkins & Table Clothes – Walmart Canada (similar table cloth here) Bottle Labels, Coasters & Gift Bags – Pinhole Press  Feather Wreath & Tree – Pier1 Import (similar here & here) Tis the Seaon Pillows – JYSK Canada **this post was not sponsored by any companies above, just brands, companies and products I love and had to share as sometimes people love knowing these things** Nearly Wordless Wednesday; it was our 7th annual Chosen Family Christmas Party this past weekend and I’ve learnt 3 very important lessons. 1, our house is just not big enough to host 20 people without someone getting hurt. 2, when […]

Our version of Elf on the Shelf {VLOG}

You’re no stranger to the Elf on the Shelf; whether or not you have one, you’ve heard of it….  Something just didn’t sit right with me when the whole Elf-thing started. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but I just knew that it wasn’t the right choice for us as a family. LOVED the concept behind the fun and magic it brings to the Holidays, so I came up with my own little idea. MORTIMER THE CHRISTMAS MOUSE He comes around every year on the 1st of December, sent straight from the North Pole, from Santa himself. We celebrate the Holidays together and channel the real […]

Parenthood is… bringing home snow from vacation

Now where do you stop? As a parent who has let their child take home snow from a Christmas Vacation, now what? I mean you’re not going to say no to that half coconut shell she drank from on your Hawaiian vacation, or that rock she found at the Grand Canyon. How about the magical water she collected from Lake Louise? EXACTLY! Look what you’ve done now! We saved it all weekend in our freezer at the hotel, and then when it came time to pack up, we put it in a ziploc bag and brought it home. It was one of those days, we were not […]

Our Christmas Traditions; What Do We Do?

We’ve been asked a few times about our family traditions over the holidays like, “do you have any family traditions you’ve carried into your family that were from your childhood?” or even “does your family have any modern holiday traditions” and my favorite yet “what in the world are you doing! this is a family tradition?!“. Clearly you’re all very excited to learn about our family’s Christmas Traditions… so let’s get right into it.  I thought now, more than ever, was a good time. The last few days here in November, before the Christmas Music hits the radio waves, before people start updating their e-mail signatures to […]

Lifestyle Change; Paleo Diet {VLOG}

  Forced into a Paleo Diet Lifestyle….  I can explain; I don’t take the word forced very lightly, don’t think someone has pushed us into something we don’t want to do, but should we want to live a long healthy life, based on both Sammy and mines family history, it’s best we follow these recommendations for us. The Paleo Diet is not new to us, Sammy used to follow it a year or two ago, it was a short-term recommendation to help with his overall health. However our Naturopath is now recommending we both follow the Paleo Diet for good, for our health and wellness, as we’re both […]

DIY Christmas Crackers

Hi, my name is Tairalyn, and I have a toilet paper roll ADDICTION.  I SWEAR this rings true for every parent? I mean, you can do so much with a toilet paper roll. Don’t believe me, hit up Pinterest and look for yourself, you start to type in T-O-I and it finishes your sentence for you, TOILET PAPER ROLL CRAFTS. No joke! Check for yourself! I give you my apologies now, I’m not helping either of our addiction much with this post, #sorrynotsorry. I can however use up some of your overflowing stash, so I guess that’s a big win right? Make room for more… more… toilet paper […]

Motherhood; this is one

Maybe I forgot after 5 years but HOLY CRAP you guys, 1 is all about making mini disasters everywhere you go.  I can’t be alone here, HELP ME OUT HERE as I’m having a hard time remembering Sofia doing this, because frankly if she did, I did a damn good job at forgetting this stage. These days were all about pulling down (kitchen towels, hand towels, pillows, blankets, bedding), unrolling (toilet paper rolls), unloading (Tupperware drawers, cupboards, laundry baskets) and CLIMBING (anything unstable seems to be her first choice).  Stella is a SILENT DESTROYER, she’s focused and concentrated on the task at hand, I should really be more […]

We’re going to the Wiggles {VLOG}

READY, STEADY, WIGGLE! Who remembers the Wiggles from their children growing up? It’s so funny, I had no idea the Wiggles were as big as they were, and went so far back until I started talking about our love for the children’s performers. My sister’s kids were big into the Wiggles and my oldest nephew just turned 16. The more I talk about them on social media the more I realize these guys go WAY BACK, people are commenting saying their kids, who just turned 20+ years loved them too. Naturally members have changed a few times as the years have progressed and I maybe bias but I […]

I was never a concert person; then we had kids

It’s sad really; I was never a concert buff until I started having kids, now every children’s concert that comes to Vancouver I feel a horrible need to go see. WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?! I mean I loved seeing Justin Timberlake in concert, even Busta Rhymes, Puff Daddy and Mase I saw (and actually liked), Backstreet Boys was a total scream-fest and New Kids on the Block, don’t get me started, how could a girl forget her first concert…. but I hear Toopy and Binoo are on stage or the Wiggles are touring Canada and I LOSE IT! Whats App threads are created between friends with kids I […]
