Our Family Dinner Rituals +Ceramictopia

Family Dinners are BIG in our family. Birthdays, Holidays, Sundays, any excuse to catch-up, reconnect and share good food. Everyone who can make it comes, more than one option of meal is made (because kids), the table is scattered with dishware, drinks, decor, it’s really the best way to celebrate ANYTHING. Last weekend my parents came over to hang out. We hadn’t seen them in a few days and we were beginning to miss their faces, so Sofia rang them up Saturday morning and asked for them to come “play”. They accepted the invite as any good Nana and Papa would put in a tight spot with […]

FEATURE: Spit Happens {Washable Rugs}

It’s like Lorena Canals read my mind; make me a rug that’s beautiful, soft and luxurious, high-quality, reasonably priced…. and heck! make sure it can be thrown into my household wash machine.  When I shop for home decor, rugs included, practicality normally takes home the win. I leave with something I’m only half happy with, it ticks off most all the boxes on my wish list and therefore makes it way into our home and we learn to love it. It was no different with Stella’s Nursery, my vision for her bedroom would take shape with a few token pieces of art, a gorgeous DIY mobile and the perfect custom […]

DIY: Patio String Lights

This post has been meaning to go live for quite sometime now, however STUFF, like growing a baby in this little belly of mine has taken priority. So first and foremost sorry for the delay, I hope you haven’t been holding your breathe waiting on doing you own patio renovation for this very post. For if you have, my goodness am I ever sorry! In this picture heavy, and by heavy I mean ELEPHANT-SIZED picture heavy post I hope to give you a good understanding of how we went from a little dream to a big reality. We really spent very little money, most of what we gave was […]

DIY: Front Door Fairy Garden

We FINALLY tackled a project we’ve been wanting to do now for 365 days, quite possibly more, it’s just you loose count after a year, which is probably best. Since Fairy Gardens became a thing we’ve wanted to make one for our home, but it wasn’t until last Friday that our desire and determination saw eye-to-eye and we set our entire day to the making of our first Fairy Garden as a family.  Sofia and I took the morning to pop out bright an early to Garden Works for the plants that we would want in our little magical garden (you may have been following along here). We had […]

DIY: Bedside Table Overhaul {with D-C-Fix}

We have an IKEA bedroom set because a) it’s affordable and we bought it when we first got married and b) our bedroom hasn’t made the priorities list as of yet. This is why tackling upgrades to our bedroom in the form of a bedside table overhaul was so needed. Call it an IKEA hack if you will, this little project took me all of 40 minutes from start to finish. I covered the table top with the marble self-adhesive film by D-C-Fix and swapped out the drawer handles with those that I found at Michaels Crafts. DIY: Rustic Placemats

Remember when I told you I wasn’t done with D-C-Fix products? Well I’m not, it’s versatility is to blame, whomever said it was only for your windows, floors and furniture was wrong. I take that only as a suggestion, as for me the skies the limits when it comes to do-it-yourself projects, pinterest is a mere springboard. Feeling inspired to make something with a cabin chic vibe for our home, I came up with these placemats. You must’of seen my sneak peek last week on Instagram? What a jerky move ‘eh? Well the wait is over, time to start eating cleaner, and I don’t mean a sugarless diet […]

FEATURE: Our JYSK Christmas Wish

JYSK is one of those stores for our family that keeps us from irritating each another beyond limitations while actually shopping together. Sofia is kept happy as a clam within the home decor section that she will always manage to find a bin of stuffed animals at and of course the art supply section. Hey! Did you know JYSK had such an amazing array of art supplies, including stretched canvases as low at $2.99? I know I didn’t, and considering how often I find myself there I should really start opening my eyes while I shop. Sammy stays quiet, but happy as he tallies up all the little life upgrades he finds that […]

DIY: Home Window Privacy

Everyone in my family enjoys to be the center of attention, I’m not denying that for even a moment, but when it comes to using the bathroom it’s something we prefer to do on the down low. This is why we’ve gone and tackled the project on our to-do list that keeps our family from literally bearing it all; our basement bathroom window needs some privacy. You see, in designing our new basement we had made some adjustments to where rooms sat because it worked better with our families needs (see the renovation process here, here, here and here). We built a bigger bathroom, put in a […]

DECOR: Blank Spaces

We’ve been living in our home nearly 7 years and this wall has looked the same ever since the day we signed papers. Not something I care to own up to, but it terrifies me on two serious levels. One, it’s huge (stating a fact here people) which means it requires big ideas and whatever I do will make a big impact on the entire space – that’s frightening. And two, I’ve recently learnt I have some rather serious commitment issues when it comes to making things in my home permanent. I like to be able to change things up in my home when it comes to decor […]
