DIY: Project Playhouse (yard prep & painting)

These past 3 weeks have been so busy! Sammy has been working like crazy at his 9-to-5 (with additional overtime shifts thanks to the hot weather) to come home and literally drop his lunch kit in the kitchen and head back outside to work on the yard and get this playhouse painted.  He’s made quite the to-do-list for himself when he decided that he wanted to first level out the yard before the playhouse was built. He wanted the ideal canvas for this work-of-art and that meant a backyard with a level playing field. Sammy ordered in a truck of dirt and wheel-barrowed it from the front yard to the […]

DIY: Patio String Lights

This post has been meaning to go live for quite sometime now, however STUFF, like growing a baby in this little belly of mine has taken priority. So first and foremost sorry for the delay, I hope you haven’t been holding your breathe waiting on doing you own patio renovation for this very post. For if you have, my goodness am I ever sorry! In this picture heavy, and by heavy I mean ELEPHANT-SIZED picture heavy post I hope to give you a good understanding of how we went from a little dream to a big reality. We really spent very little money, most of what we gave was […]

I’m The Worst Neighbor

KEEPING UP WITHE THE JONESES CAN BE A TOUGH ROAD Being a good neighbor doesn’t have to be difficult, but quite frankly you can make it that way. Trying to top your neighbors at every opportunity you get, and apparently… this is exactly what I’ve done to myself.! We live in an amazing neighborhood. We have neighbors who we often carry long drawn out conversations at fence level with about the weather and how home renovations can suck you dry. We truly feel as though we have struck it rich living in the home and area that we do, but with the good comes evil right? The feeling of […]

FEATURE: Patio Miracle(-Gro) Makeover

I think we can all agree that a well-done before and after motivates us, has us dreaming about our own spaces, makes us feel all the feelings! No?  I mean seeing a space go from lackluster to hosting perfection in not only a short time frame but on a budget, those are my kinda makeovers; an affordable quick overhaul which we’ve been calling a Miracle(-Gro) Makeover. It’s taken us about 4 weeks and just over $500 to complete, considering the size of our space and the blank canvas we had, it needed a lot of love, but had huge potential. Think dreamy lighting, romantic foliage and flowers that perfume the air as […]

DECOR: Blank Spaces

We’ve been living in our home nearly 7 years and this wall has looked the same ever since the day we signed papers. Not something I care to own up to, but it terrifies me on two serious levels. One, it’s huge (stating a fact here people) which means it requires big ideas and whatever I do will make a big impact on the entire space – that’s frightening. And two, I’ve recently learnt I have some rather serious commitment issues when it comes to making things in my home permanent. I like to be able to change things up in my home when it comes to decor […]

HOME TOUR: Our Bathroom In The Woods

Family Growth Ruler via Watch Us Grow “Hot In Here” Print via Julian & Jinks // Soap Dispenser via Bernardin // Tree Wall Decals via Surface Inspired Room: Main Bathroom (upstairs) Vibe: Cabin in the City It’s the main bathroom of our 4 bedroom 2.5 bathroom home. Along with the kitchen, it was one of the first things that we tackled as far as renovations go. The original brass fixtures were horrible but I’m certain it’s the butter yellow sink, tub, toilet trio that did us in. Gutted the entire room, right down to the studs, and although we gave consideration to blowing out the back wall and combining the half […]
