MOTHERHOOD: Things I couldn’t live without

I always try my best to make sure me and my family are prepared for everything, I preplan including hypothetical scenarios to ensure we’re ready for everything; but let’s get real you can never truly be ready to bring home a newborn. The things you think you need, you don’t, and the things that you actually grab for at a time in need (like a screaming inconsolable baby) you may never actually find in the aisles at Babies r’ Us. The past 2.5 months have been wonderfully exhausting, doing this baby-thing again after 5 years is rough. Not only do you forget about all the crying and […]

FAMILY: Stella Grace (month 2)

TWO WHOLE MONTHS has passed since this little person was born and oh my goodness… Today marked a big day! Besides reaching a whole 2 months in age, more importantly she wore her first real outfit (cuffed skinny jeans, the perfect white tee and a cable-knit cardigan)… Oh. Right. and it was her dad’s 39th Birthday — Happy Birthday Sammy!!! I still can’t believe that 2 months has passed and this little girl graced our lives with her presence (and love). Tons of smiles, a boat load of giggles and just as many moments with the quivering bottom lip, crocodile tears and dose of “don’t you dare put me down” tangents. Hey! it […]

THIS IS {REAL} LIFE

Real life isn’t pretty, it’s beautiful.  Other than our own, real life moments is something we don’t often get to see online. With Instagram and Facebook playing such a heavy hand in our social lives these days, intentional or not what makes the cut onto our Instagram feeds are usually all things perfect and pretty. The freshly baked cookies that sit counter-top in your unrealistically sparkling kitchen with the hashtag #housewife, or the perfectly primped living room that’s been plucked from the pages of Pottery Barn, clearly unlived in tagged #happyhome (how happy was this home getting it to this point), or my favorite yet is that calm lovely picture of […]

STORY: My Love Hate Relationship with Breastfeeding

Motherhood has a funny way of putting you in uncomfortable positions, physically and figuratively speaking. From breastfeeding in the aisle of a grocery store, to diaper changes on a park bench, to shushing your throat dry at 3:26am. You guys… I’m actually surprised a lot more of us are not parents of just one child. #funnybuttruestory With Sofia, I was unable to breastfeed due to her early detected milk intolerance. I felt like such a failure; I wanted so badly as a first time mother to be able to provide my child with everything she needed. From love and affection, to warmth and safety and most importantly food; […]

FEATURE: Spit Happens {Washable Rugs}

It’s like Lorena Canals read my mind; make me a rug that’s beautiful, soft and luxurious, high-quality, reasonably priced…. and heck! make sure it can be thrown into my household wash machine.  When I shop for home decor, rugs included, practicality normally takes home the win. I leave with something I’m only half happy with, it ticks off most all the boxes on my wish list and therefore makes it way into our home and we learn to love it. It was no different with Stella’s Nursery, my vision for her bedroom would take shape with a few token pieces of art, a gorgeous DIY mobile and the perfect custom […]

FEATURE: Doodles By Me Shoes

I doubt this is going to come as a surprise but Sofia and I, WE LOVE A GOOD CRAFT. Clearly glitter runs through our veins and if crafting can be hereditary then it’s no doubt she got it from her mama! I stumbled across this company when looking for an indoor shoe that Sofia could take and keep at school. Once the request form rolled out in it entirety (this kindergarten thing is serious business) I was left with a very specific check-list of what they wanted in an indoor shoe for these kidlets. They must be able to put them on themselves (no tie-up shoes) They had […]

FEATURE: 3 Reasons To Fist Pump Your Breast Pump

I’m a firm believer in fed is best, no matter how you do it! Breast… GREAT, Formula… FANTASTIC, a combination of both… BRILLIANT! I’ve never fully understood why one would give the evil eye to someone feeding their child whichever way it maybe; I mean you don’t know how or why this decision was made and for that matter nor do you have a right. And because I feel like “those evil’eyein’ people” are no readers of mine, I’m going to share how we’re choosing to feed baby Stella Grace. SIDE STORY// We found out Sofia Marie was lactose intolerant early on, by 4 weeks old we will 100% formula fed. I […]

FASHION: LYST is your new shopping buddy

What do you get when you cross a fashion obsessed woman 3 weeks postpartum, who find herself stuck inside most days due to c-section recovery? You get a lyst-addict, that’s what.  I was introduced to lyst as the Pinterest of shopping websites (well then, hello newest obsession!). Where you can save items to a personal board and keep a close eye on them for when, you know… WHEN THEY GO ON SALE! No word of a lie people, this exists. Lyst allows you to save items on a virtual board that you can re-visit again and again and again (as you do). You will be notified of stock alerts, […]

FAMILY: We’ve Quit Cartoons

Paw Patrol? Nah! The Wiggles? No Thanks! Strawberry Shortcake? No-No! Napkin Man? Nope! Ninja Turtles? Mum! Come’on! These are the things I ask each morning as we prep a breakfast that needs inhaling (it’s our first year of Kindergarten, we still need to nail down our morning routine). Judge away ladies! JUDGE AWAY, yes I let my child watch TV while she eats Breakfast; but let me explain! While she actually eats over a mild distraction starting our morning off on the right foot, I get hot tea in my face-hole. Like I said… WINNING!  Cartoons used to be the morning show of choice, like any family with kids […]
