A trip to the local Thrift Shop is always on the list at least once a month. I honestly think that it you have even an ounce of creatively or vision you will see that buying for pennies and spending some money giving them life again is much more fun and rewarding than just buying it from a BIG BOX Store {not that I have anything against this}.
We had decided that with a little girl we would decorate the Nursery with an Enchanted Forest Tea Party, type feel. The Walls a Mellow Yellow with Black Decal Tree’s The Furniture a combination of Dark Wood and Shabby Chic Vintage White. Little Forest Characters around the room and of course Tea Cups.
My first visit to the Thrift Store with Sofia in mind I found three amazing pieces that I felt were a perfect fit for the Nursery. Owls, a Frog and a Miniature Grand Father Clock. All of which had seen much better days. I am almost certain the Frog was a Lawn Ornament.
DIY – Enchanted Nursery Decor
My vision was to stray them all an Off-White Color to match with the Furniture and have the Frog on side table by our soon to be Glider, the Owls on Sofia’s Change Table and the Clock someplace on a shelf. After Sammy spent a good 2 weeks spraying them – they are finally complete. It took about 5 or 6 coats on the Animals and only about 2 or 3 on the Clock.
I bought the spray paint at Rona, a Hardware store that was appropriate for Ceramic, Metal and Wood – covering all my bases with all 3 items. The color was called Heirloom White and was just the most perfect creamy look to it once it was done. Very happy with how they turned out, I just can;t wait to get the rest of the room done so we can get them in their places.
Anyone else do a little “do-it-yourself” projects for your Babies Nursery? I’d love to hear from you, and even do a little feature on Little Miss Mama!
