DIY: Magnetic Paper Dolls

I remember paper dolls as a child. I would dress them over and over and over, finding the perfect look for the perfect imaginary scene I had painted in my head. She was getting married, she was going out with friends, she was taking her paper doll dog for a walk. Whatever the scene; I had the perfect paper look.

After spotting a few printables online, I thought how fun it would be to make a set for Sofia. With the assumption that it it would be near impossible to find them locally, I took to online researching. I had a vision in my head on what I wanted the doll to look like, which made for the hunt a little like a needle in a hay stack. Loads of free printables on Pinterest, however nothing that met the criteria on what I had in mind. Cute, Simple, Sweet, and Modern. I moved my researching over to etsy, I had no problem paying someone to make them for me if they could give me what I was after.

That’s when I found Maiko Designs. Boy was I happy to find her! She had exactly what I was looking for. I purchased a basic set she had designed and had them printed at a local printers. However when I went to pick them up, I had the genius idea to put them on a magnetic sheet. This would allow for using them in the car and the overall longevity of the Paper Dolls themselves. So when I got to the printers, I bought a set of magnetic sheets. Had them reprint my image onto a sticker sheet and then stuck them to the magnet. GENIUS! Stopped off at the dollar store on my way home to grab a stainless cookie sheet and called it a day. I cut each piece very carefully; stuck them all to the cookie sheet and ever since, it has been one of the most favored activities in our home.

May need to add some new threads soon; this Paper Dolls wardrobe is getting dated. I mean it is fall, she should really have a scarf, hat, boots, and mittens to accessorize with; we do live in Canada and all!
