Two phrases I’ve been searching on Pinterest the last 30 days is, DIY Mickey Ears and Halloween Mickey Ears.
You guys! This is totally a thing, and should you be visiting Disneyland or Disney World anytime soon, you’re going to wan’t to listen up!
Last week I had the opportunity to get crafty. Payed a visit to Michaels Crafts, used up that 50% off coupon burning a whole in my pocket and dusted off that glue gun. I made both girls Spooky Mickey Ears for our upcoming visit to the Happist Place on Earth this Fall.
We all know wearing Mickey Ears is a must when you’re visiting the park. It’s really the only time society will let you think you’re a fashion icon for wearing mouse ears after 30. What I didn’t know is that Mickey Ears are seasonal. Halloween Mickey Ears, Christmas Mickey Ears and HECK! Spring Mickey Ears is actually a thing people! An extremely popular and adorable thing ALL. OVER. PINTEREST.
I knew I could spend hours upon hours on ETSY hunting out the perfect pair for the girls. I saved myself the agony of making an impossible decision and made our own. Gives me a great opportunity to get back into using the creative side of my brain, that and all my glue gun burns have healed, it’s about time I had another.
This was where it all started;
We scored an adorable pair of Mickey Ears from a friend that was visiting The Gap one day. They were clearning them out at $3 each and she managed to get us 4 pairs. (Hey Kim! THANK YOU AGAIN)
Next I found myself daydreaming down the aisles at Michaels Crafts and stumbled across these Cobbweb Coasters. They came in a pack of 4 which was exactly the sign I needed to make the call. These DIY Mickey Ears would be spider-bound.
Headed back home with a pep to my step. I wasn’t in Micahels for longer than 5 minutes when I found these. Coming from a mom with 2 littles who were “done with all the errands” I feel like a dodged a bullet there.
I had aleady made it home when I realized I wanted something more. Something floral. I blame all the beautiful Spring Disney Ears for this. Evidently I hit up my craft box and came across some little black artificial flowers and called it a win. We glued everything together, found a test head to give them a try for spookiness. They ran to the mirror, gave their approval and I called it a day!
The girls cannot wait to sport these in the park next month. YOU KIDDING ME! I can’t wait for the girls to sport these in the park next month. The first person that makes a comment on their beauty will get a “yeah, it was no big thang, I totally whip those together myself“. As a matter of fact, I’ll take it next level and prove it with the hot glue gun scar on my thumb.
