In most of my travels I make a tea-lovers out of everyone I meet. Someone who doesn’t like tea has merely not tried the right cup in my eyes. Oh! the problems I’ve solved, the woes I’ve overcome and the many broken hearts I’ve mended over a good cup of tea are beyond measurable. Tea is the band-aid for our soul.
I’m not addicted to tea, we’re just in a very committed relationship.
This past weekend was my best friends Bridal Shower and I knew that following suit of the guests, buying from the registry was not mandatory for me. I’m her bestie, friends since grade 3, her maid-of-honor, I knew that I could go on my own with this and give a gift from the heart, something I know she would never treat herself to but she would need greatly in her future. I hunted down bits and pieces to build the most gorgeous tea set she could ever own, one from me to her that would help her through married life woes (we know there are some doozies at the beginning) and a constant reminder that I am with her, for tea, always.
Hunting through vintage shops is my most favorite thing, the gems you can find are beyond words. It’s my form of gambling, giving your time, taking a chance, betting on a hole in the wall store and coming out with gold. I wish I had taken a picture of this tea pot before Sammy put a little elbow grease into it. The pot I purchased was black, all tarnished and needed some love. Sammy took to it with some Silvo polish that I had picked up at a local grocery store, with a clean soft cloth and a little time it cleaned it up beautifully.
I’m beyond pleased with how the set turned out and cannot wait to give the next part of the gift to her, a lesson in making the perfect pot of tea. It’s quite the science I will have you know, it took many years of learning myself from my mama. Happy to share it and start her on the right foot into wedded bliss.

What a lovely gift! I’m a big tea lover myself but I’m certainly no expert! It does always taste better out of a nice teapot and with a pretty cup though. 🙂

I just love that you found separate items and made the set yourself, and it sounds as though Lindsay loved it from her comment!
