We all know 101 ways to make our lives easier as parents. We have Pinterest and their many boards dedicated to life hacks to thank for this. But when it comes to dinner time chaos, I feel like NO LIFE HACK ever really helps. I refuse to go down that path of frozen meals, take-out or worst case scenario dinner that comes in a cardboard house, serviced with a toy.
Until 3 weeks ago, I struggled with the dinner time chaos. What changed? The discovery of Fresh Prep Vancouver.
There seems to be a meal prep delivery service around every corner these days. I couldn’t ignore my Facebook feed any longer. I had to give it a try before I officially threw in the towel. Could it really make my dinner times easier? Solve my issue of cooking multiple meals? Save me money on my grocery bill? And most importantly, was it delicious?
Today we’re sharing our experience with Fresh Prep Vancouver, answering all your burning questions on this meal prep delivery service (assuming of course you had some).
Fresh Prep Vancouver can accommodate many dietary restriction from gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan. They have their hearts in the right place with their seafood being 100% Ocean Wise and their love for the environment. They deliver their meals in reusable cooler bags and all packaging is either recyclable or compostable. Recycle it yourself or rinse and pop it into the cooler bag and they will do it for you. YOU GUYS they’re that awesome!
3 PERKS I NOTICED WITH FRESH PREP
- Meals in less than 30 minutes (it’s never taken me more than 25 minutes)
- No Food Waste (just enough for leftovers the next day)
- Less money spent on groceries (for us, between $20 and $35 a week)
They deliver Sunday through Thursday with varying delivery times. In our area it’s Wednesdays or Sundays between 4-6:00pm or 6-8:00pm. Should their timing in your area not work, they’re also happy to deliver to your work place. But most defiantly one of my favorite little features is when they text you saying your driver is on his way. Almost every time (I’m that forgetful people!) it’s the perfect little reminder to put out our cooler bag and make a little more room in our fridge.
Honestly Fresh Prep Vancouver has thought of it all AND MORE!
Did you know our family has tried so many new dishes since using their service? My girls have been more interested in trying new things (cue the angels singing!). I’m far more relaxed about them helping in the kitchen when all that is required of them is to pour, squish or dump into a bowl. Everything is pre-measured and pre-cut which means less mess, less waste and less time spent in the kitchen. More spent on debating games and snacks for family game night.
Something I did not expect was saving on our weekly grocery bill. We’ve got Fresh Prep delivering 3 meals a week with 4 portions. The cost is $115 taxes in which roughly works out to $38 per meal, about $9.50 a plate. With the 1 meal I feed the 4 of us for dinner and have left overs for Sam’s work including a small portion for my lunch the next day. We’ve found their portions to be quite generous and have done us very well in saving money on groceries (and waste). Over the last 3 weeks, we’ve managed to save between $20 and $35 a week on our grocery bill. This is by simply being able to stretch our meals and having a meal plan in place. I was already convinced based on how stress-free it made my evening, but this makes it a no-brainer.

Also, just a heads up you’ll want to PINCH YOURSELF when you realize this is your new normal. Stree-free delicious Dinner time is the thing of the future.
