I’d like to think I know a decent amount about reading and understanding nutritional facts when grocery shopping. Being able to decipher if a product is good enough for me and my family or better to just put back on the shelf to hopefully collect dust. I’ll be the first to admit that I could know more but it’s just one of those daunting tasks that google and I just haven’t yet made the time for.
Until opportunity came knocking (and included a $100 gift card giveaway)…
A chance for me to be somewhat of a pro facts-reader, and better yet share with you how to be a nutritional facts superhero (get our your capes people, this is the real deal). This campaign is a joint initiative of the Food and Consumer Products of Canada (FCPC), the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) and Health Canada all coming together to make learning how to use and understanding the Nutrition Facts table, helping us make informed food choices for our families.
Forget hitting up google and self teaching ourselves how to use and understand these tables (we all know how our buddy google can lead us astray, leaving us at youtube’s door steps watching Justin Beibers Sorry video on repeat), so avoid this, and head over to Canada.ca/NutritionalFacts and take the steps in teaching yourselves about how to read and use the nutritional facts on the foods we eat. I can’t be the only one that’s had this on their life “to do” list, I just can’t be alone on this one. I’m finding the site extremely self explanatory, shining lights on most of everything I’ve ever questioned, and surprised myself when learning about serving sizes and how they can pretty much fool you into thinking you’re comparing apples to apples when you’re really actually comparing apples to zebras (seriously, it’s that crazy)!
DON’T LEAVE JUST YET, first enter our contest that AMG Digital has so graciously provided us to giveaway in celebration of this campaign, #FocusOnTheFacts, as put out by Health Canada and it’s partners. Enter below to win a $100 gift card for a grocery store of your choice (between Loblaws, Overwaitea, Metro, Sobeyโs, Costco, Walmart or Federated Coop)! HOW COOL IS THAT?! So enter below and then pop over to Canada.ca/NutritionalFacts and get to reading and using Nutritional Facts like a pro!
