Okay – so I have done my research and made my pro’s and con’s list and here is what I come up with. I like convenience. Seriously, thats it. The the only reason why I choose not to cloth diaper Sofia when she is born in September. Now if after ready this post you dis-agree and I have my fact wrong then please by all means prove me wrong. COMMENT BELOW!
Cloth Diapers {with flushable or bio-degradable liners}:
Must be purchased online or at a local Specialty Baby Store
Must stay stocked up on Liners
Must get them pre-ready for baby’s bum {putting liner inside in advance}
Must go outside and dispose of with a Shovel and Rack
Must hope to goodness it fits down your drain without Plugging up
Cost Effective
Helpful to the Environment
Cloth Diapers {washable}:
Must be purchased online or at a local Specialty Baby Store
Must buy enough to last you for a good week considering you may not have time for laundry
Must get over the fact that you are putting in soiled clothing in your beloved Wash Machine
Must buy special detergent gentle enough for baby’s bum, but strong enough to deep clean
Must get over the fact that you might actually “touch poop” on a hourly basis
Cost Effective
Helpful to the Environment
Disposable Diapers:
Can be purchased anywhere {Baby Store, Grocery Store, Drug Store …Gas Station}
Can be purchased any day of the week any time of the day {a drugstore will be open 24hours}
Can be thrown our in any trash bin… including your neighbors
Can be grabbed with ease, straight from the bag, no setup required
Not Cost Effective, compared to Cloth
Not Helpful to the Environment
And this is why I choose Disposable Diapers… They are Convenient, They are stress free, and they are quick! I feel like in about 5 minutes I’m going to get my ass handed to me with cruel comments on how I am not helping save the environment and how much extra money I’m going to be spending on diapers and how un-sanitary they are and… I’m sure their is more to come. But here it what I would like to say this, I help save the environment by recycling and e-mailing vs. sending in the mail, I save money coupon’ing and am willing to take the sacrifice paying more for the convenience, and, my husband and I clean the home twice a week {yes, we are a little freakish like that} and I can guarantee that my baby will be in good clean hands.
NOW – having said all that – if someone can change my mind with something I don’t know, please do! I would love to hear it – I mean your supposed to learn something new everyday… and well today – I got NOTHING so far!!!

I have no idea why you need a shovel and rake… you can put the dirty stuff down the toilet without needing to dig a hole in your hard.
You don’t need to use special detergent. Many brands of cloth diapers clean up just fine with vinegar and hot water.
If you buy the right kind of cloth diaper, you only need to buy them one time. Fuzzi Bunz for example are adjustable in every way you need a diaper to be and can go from infant to toddler easier.
I still touched poop more than I wanted to with disposable diapers. Its a fact of baby life. I don’t touch it any more or less often with cloth diapers.
And you forgot to mention how cute a baby looks when they are wearing a big, fluffy cloth diaper.
All that being said, I would not cloth diaper a new born until the meconium was over with. That stuff is grosser than gross.
And finally… do what works best for your family, just make sure you make a choice about it rather than defaulting to the perceived norm (which it seems like you have done).

You are too funny! Thanks for leaving such a sweet comment on my blog. Oh, the things you are in for with having a baby…the hardest, yet most rewarding job EVER! I have two boys and I love every minute of it. Well, except for the crying, screaming, time-outs and tantrums 🙂 And, I have to agree with ya! I’m disposable all the way. Our family contributes to being GREEN in other ways, but when it comes to kids, convienence is so much easier. To each his own 🙂 Thanks again for visiting….I’m a new follower! Can’t wait to see the progression of Mommyhood for ya. 😉

I just started following today and am reading back through your posts. I just wanted to share my opinion. I am not pregnant or a mom yet but we went gung-hoe looking into cloth diapers before my miscarriage.
We’re going to cloth diaper for sure. Every diaper reused is one less in the landfills and here on Vancouver Island we have limited space. Every diaper reused is money saved. If we need to take breaks from cloth diapers so be it. We probably will run out for sposies many times in the diapered years but hopefully not often.
